WHO AM I ?

Quick. Born in Connecticut, graduated with an undergraduate degree in teaching and business from Central Connecticut State, moved outside Philadelphia, taught, got a master’s degree from West Chester State University.

My then wife’s parent bought a house in a place called Nantucket. Where the heck was that? Had to get a map out to find it. (You start getting an idea of my age...no one knew where Nantucket was at that time and I had to get a map out. No internet in those days...not even a glimmer).

Visited Nantucket that summer, really didn’t care for it. Next summer came back, caught a striper and said: “Why don’t we move up here.” (True story). Nantucket in January, 1972, Madaket. Windy, cold, one of maybe seven families living there.

Ran Tristram’s Landing for a few years; back into teaching at Nantucket High School; back into real estate; started my own business in 1982; remarried: sold business when last of six children (hers and mine---no, ours) graduated college. Decided that I didn’t want to “manage” any more, liked listing and selling better.

Helped start our professional association (Nantucket Association of Real Estate Brokers or NAREB for short). Served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for six years. Know all the surveyors and attorneys on the Island very well. Been here a while.

(The striper was 27 pounds. Using length in telling how big a fish you caught is a relatively new phenomena. Also, a fish is a striper and a bluefish is, well, a bluefish).
